Visa Requirements
International delegates attending the 5th Global Congress on Sickle Cell Disease in Abuja, Nigeria (June 3-6, 2025) may require a visa to enter Nigeria. We strongly recommend checking your visa requirements well in advance.
Who Needs a Visa?
Most international visitors require a visa to enter Nigeria. However, citizens of certain countries within ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) do not need a visa for short visits.

Visa Types & Application Process
Business Visa (Recommended for Conference Delegates)
Suitable for attendees traveling for conferences, meetings, or business-related activities. Valid for a single entry and typically issued for up to 90 days.
Visa on Arrival (VOA) – Available for Eligible Delegates
Nigeria offers a Visa on Arrival (VOA) option for business travelers, including conference delegates. You must apply online before arrival and receive an approval letter.
Important Tips for Delegates
✔ Apply for your visa at least 4-6 weeks before the event to avoid delays.
✔ Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date.
✔ Keep a copy of your invitation letter and registration confirmation handy.
